About The Event

The Not For Sale Gallery presents a solo show by Alex Muen titled ‘Bhodi’;

Private View 21st March 7pm- 26th April

Sundays 2-7pm and by appointment.

Bhodi, meaning enlightenment in Sanskrit, is an invitation to explore spirituality and materiality. Alex Muen's canvases, sculptures and projections are filled with substance: her unique approach to light art blends informed investigations of the physical and spiritual nature of energy and light into abstract, figurative forms.

Using both traditional techniques and materials, with the latest in light based technologies, Muen's precision in her choice of materials add conceptual layers to the works, conveying a tension implicit in the interconnection of technology and nature.

“The dynamics of light, including shifts in colour temperature and intensity, is of interest to me. When light is emitted and projected, rather than reflected, it is enveloping, transporting, and intrinsically participatory, even before the viewer is given control of the piece."

Alex Muen is synesthetic European conceptual artist, based between Spain and the UK. Her light art is a junction of interconnecting layers of emotion, spirituality, materiality, technology and traditional craft. Muen has developed a unique style that blends the latest in LED technology with traditional techniques.

Her work has been exhibited in the UK, Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Ukraine, with public art commissioned by the Arts Ministry in the UK.
